Arlington Renewable Gas Facility>
The American Biogas Council has named the renewable gas facility that began operating at the Arlington landfill as its 2019 Innovation of the Year recipient. This facility is a partnership between the City, and Mas Energy, LLC affiliate Renovar Arlington Ltd.
Since 1999, the City has had an agreement with Renovar Arlington Ltd. to operate and maintain the Landfill Gas Collection and Control System. Renovar’s newly-constructed renewable natural gas facility, which collects biogases in Arlington and Fort Worth to be processed and sold for transportation fuel, was one of eight projects across the country to be honored this year by the American Biogas Council.
The Council, which champions the growth of the biogas industry, recognized the public-private partnership in Arlington “for an extremely innovative business model and deployment of leading-edge technology.”
As part of the partnership with Renovar Arlington Ltd., the City of Arlington earns royalties for the sale of the renewable natural gas and Renewable Identification Numbers, which are credits for compliance through the EPA’s Renewable Fuel Standard Program, from biogases that Renovar processes at the facility. PEI would like to congratulate David Mathews as the Sales Application Engineer, and Jeff Wienhoff as the Project Engineer for another outstanding Thermal Oxidizer Installation.
